Participating the EGU: Hybrid-3DEnVar for aConvective-Scale NWP

1st year activities

I started my doctoral studies in July 2022 at the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics (IMG), University of Vienna. 3D Dimensional Variational Data Assimilation is operational at the Austrian weather services GeoSphere Austria, and in my research, I have successfully tested state-of-the-art Hybrid 3-Dimensional Variational (3DEnVar) Data Assimilation in convective-scale NWP model AROME in close collaboration with GeoSphere Austria for the first time over Austria.

GeoSphere Austria provides first-guess, Observation, and ensemble members, and ECMWF provides computational resources to run these tests.

Apart from research activities at IMG and GeoSphere Austria, I presented my poster “Testing Hybrid-3DENVar in a convection-scale NWP model AROME over Austria” at the 3rd ACCORD all-staff workshop, 27-31 March 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia, and at European Geosciences Union(EGU) 2023, Vienna.
